Whidbey Island Music Festival 2019
BEGINS TOMORROW, FRIDAY JULY 26th!
Dear Friends of the Whidbey Island Music Festival,
It's always an exciting and busy time just before the first concert of the festival. Tomorrow the musicians gather for final dress rehearsals of this week's programs, and then Friday night we open with a spectacular program inspired by the drama and fireworks of the opera. I'm thrilled to welcome Sherezade Panthaki to Whidbey Island for the first time. It has been a joy rehearsing this program with her (details below!) and I look forward to many goosebump moments in the performances!
Schubert's cello quintet in C major is one of the great masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire, and this year composer and lecturer Aaron Grad will join us as a tour guide. Aaron's wonderfully engaging style of talking about music will, I hope, bring new insights and deeper enjoyment of the subime music for both new and seasoned concertgoers.
New this year are pre-concert talks where you can learn more about the music, the programs and the instruments as well as the performers. FREE for all ticket holders, these talks begin 45 minutes before each performance.
Looking forward to seeing you at St. Augustine’s!
