Sheila Weidendorf

Piano

Pianist Sheila Weidendorf hails originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota where she earned her BA in Music from the University of Minnesota School of Music under the mentorship of pianist Duncan McNab. Early and significant injury cut short her performance career resulting in her not playing the piano for two decades. She earned an M.A. in Feminist Theology and raised five children during those years, returning rather surprisingly to music about 15 years ago.

She now performs regularly with her classical ensemble, Trio Rasa (with violinist Linda Vogt & cellist Aniela Marie Perry—though they sometimes add violinist Gloria Ferry-Brennan and/or violist Roxanna Patterson, thus becoming RASA 4 or 5!); with her improvisational ensemble, Trio Improviso (again with Linda Vogt and guitarist Andre Feriante); and with CelloPiano—a collaboration with cellist Gideon Freudmann. She also regularly serves as Music Director in the world of musical theater, and has been immensely enjoying a long-term Brahms project with violinist Tekla Cunningham.

Sheila released her first solo album of piano improvisations, We Are Luminous, in 2024. She will be releasing albums this year both with CelloPiano and with Trio Improviso. To stay abreast of these releases or to learn more about Sheila, visit her website at www.sheilamakesmusic.com.
