Il piano di Maria                                                                    Giovanni Battista Ferrandini (1710-1791)

Trio Sonata in G major, Op. 4 No. 10                                                   Archangelo Corelli (1653-1713)

Stabat Mater P77                                                                     Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1710-1736)

Perhaps the most celebrated queen in Western music history, the Virgin Mary, has inspired countless sacred musical tributes. This program includes two superb examples, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater for soprano and alto soloists and the less well-known, but equally poignant, Il pianto di Maria by Giovanni Battista Farrandini for mezzo-soprano.
