Whidbey Island Music Festival and Early Music Underground present
In Mary’s Arms: Christmas music by Baroque Women Composers
December 3, 2016 at St. Augustine's in-the-woods Episcopal Church at 7:30 p.m.
The Whidbey Island Music Festival and Early Music Underground have teamed up to present a series of Cabaret Concerts on Whidbey Island, featuring great performances from some of America's finest baroque musicians blended with refreshments (including great local wine and craft brews) in the open, informal, and welcoming setting of St. Augustine Episcopal Church’s parish hall. In addition to the music, the players will talk about the music, their instruments, and stories about bringing old music to today’s world – a great experience for seasoned and first-time concertgoers alike.
On December 3rd, celebrate the season with rising star soprano Natalie Ingrisano and the Early Music Underground House Band, led by Whidbey Island Music Festival director Tekla Cunningham, for an inspiring and profound program of rarely-heard motets and cantatas for voice, strings, and organ by 17th century women composers including Antonia Bembo, Isabella Leonarda, Maria Peruchona, and Chiara Margarita Cozzolani.
